Latest Crypto Hire: Binance, FTX Make Major Additions

Before becoming a Justice Department attorney, Eaton was a line prosecutor and senior adviser in the U.S. Army. In both roles, he provided advice on a range of complex operations, investigations, litigation and policy.

Eaton said he became interested in crypto while working in the U.S. Attorney's Office, where he realized the importance of preventing bad actors from abusing blockchain technology for personal gain.

He will now lead the legal department of the largest crypto exchange, supporting global compliance, investigations and law enforcement coordination activities.

Binance also announced his appointmentJarek Jakubcekas the company's Head of Intelligence and Investigations for the Asia Pacific region.

Jakubcek previously worked as a cryptocurrency specialist in the Dark Web team at the Europol Cybercrime Center for seven years. Prior to joining Europol, he spent approximately five years with An Garda Siochana, Ireland's national police and security service.

At Binance, Jarek will work with law enforcement agencies to coordinate the elimination of malicious crypto actors.

The US subsidiary of the crypto exchange FTX discontinuedMarissa McDonaldTo be Chief Compliance Officer ofFTX trust company— The New York division of FTX.US, pending regulatory approval.

FTX.US also announced that it has applied for a deed of trust from the New York Department of Finance to operate in the state.

MacDonald most recently worked as chief compliance officer at Fidelity Digital Assets. She began her career at Ernst & Young.

The move comes after Paul Ewing, the company's former CFO, was named chief operating officer (COO) following the resignation of former COO Andrew Eldon to pursue other responsibilities.

Ling was recently appointed to the board of EQONEX as part of the company's strategic partnership with payments technology company Bifinity, where Ling was director of strategy.

Prior to Bifinity, he was CFO at Pujiang International Group and previously also worked at Bridgewater Associates, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Singapore Exchange and ShoreVest Capital.
