The Central Bank of Ukraine is looking for a blockchain developer who promises career opportunities and a salary in the private sector. A job posting was recently published outlining the responsibilities of the position and the benefits candidates can expect published on Linkedin from the bank's IT director Vladimir Nagornyuk.

The blockchain specialist is expected to engage in “the development, implementation and refinement of infrastructure services, highly accessible distributed systems and services (Hyperledger),” according to the advertisement details. Future hiring will focus on the design and development of microservices and integration solutions, development of smart contracts, registries and architecture solutions.
According to Nagornyuk's post, quoted by Forklog, the National Bank of Ukraine ( NBU ) offers “opportunities for professional development in a stable and transparent organization” and “compensation in line with the market” with performance-related bonuses. A company pension plan and flexible working hours are also part of the benefits.
The monetary authority says it will provide its blockchain expert with access to training and an “opportunity to contribute to the country’s development.” This suggests that the person holding the position is likely to join the regulator's project to create its own central bank digital currency (CBDC).
The e-hryvnia project has been in the works for several years. The Ukrainian Parliament passed a new law in June and later that opened the door for its adoption, the Law “On Payment Services”. signed from President Volodymyr Zelensky. The bill grants the NBU the authority to mint a digital version of the sovereign fiat currency.
A Opinion poll The study conducted this year among financial experts showed that the industry favors a blockchain design for the digital hryvnia that enables peer-to-peer transfers, boosts e-commerce and is used to facilitate transactions in the crypto space. The central bank stated that the application of its CBDC in the virtual asset space is worth further research.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation revealed in August that it plans to pay its employees using the electronic hryvnia once the coin is available for testing. According to a recent statement by Arsen Makarchuk, head of the NBU's strategy and development department, a corresponding pilot project could be launched by the end of the year.
