AMC Theaters accepts cryptocurrency payments for eGift Card purchases

The cryptocurrency market has been gaining acceptance in recent months, and more companies will enter the market in the coming months and years.

AMC Theaters is rolling out its cryptocurrency payment capabilities

AMC Theaters, the largest operator of movie theaters in the United States, announced yesterday that it now accepts a wide range of cryptocurrencies for the purchase of electronic gift cards. This is in anticipation of accepting cryptocurrencies as payment options in its cinemas.

American cinema giant AMC Theaters' CEO Adam Aron revealed this latest information in a blog post yesterday.

He explained that their customers can now purchase digital gift cards using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) directly through the company's website, mobile app and in their cinemas.

AMC Theaters has partnered with major crypto payment processor BitPay to offer this service to its customers. Customers can purchase e-cards up to $200 using Bitcoin and other approved cryptocurrencies.

Dogecoin is one of the most exciting cryptocurrencies due to the support of people like Elon Musk. The CEO paid particular attention to DOGE after a previous survey showed that most of his followers want AMC to accept the cryptocurrency. Aron explained that DOGE is one of the cryptocurrencies accepted for its digital gift cards and hinted that the coin could be among those accepted as payment options at its 593 theaters in the US.

AMC will accept crypto in its theaters by the end of the year

AMC announced earlier this year that it would accept some cryptocurrencies as payment options at its 593 theaters in the US. Some of the coins to be accepted are Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The company is currently considering adding Dogecoin (DOGE) to the list.

DOGE is currently up over 4% in the last 24 hours as the broader cryptocurrency market continues to recover. Bitcoin has finally crossed the USD 50,000 mark and it could rise towards the USD 55,000 resistance level in the coming hours.
