Binance has named three former housemates of the popular Nigerian reality TV show “Big Brother Naija” as the cryptocurrency exchange’s brand ambassadors for the African continent.
Bringing crypto to the mainstream
Leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced that it has partnered with three former Big Brother Naija housemates as part of its plan to expand its presence on the African continent. The exchange said the three former housemates Hazel Oyeze Onou, Ikechukwu Sunday Okonkwo and Pere Egbi will help bring crypto into the mainstream.
In one opinion published by Techpoint Africa, Binance Director for Africa Emmanuel Babalola explained the reasons behind the selection of the three individuals and how their efforts will help the exchange achieve some of its goals. Babalola said:
"Our goal is to make people understand crypto and ease the process of introducing it into their daily lives. Among other things, we have seen how these influencers and their stories embody the entrepreneurial spirit, hard work and lifestyle of everyday Nigerian life. We share the goal of giving more Africans the knowledge and resources they need to achieve financial freedom. Therefore, it is a perfect fit and working with them is a huge win."
Crypto: “The New Currency”
The same report from Techpoint Africa, meanwhile, quotes one of the former roommates, Onou – also known as “Whitemoney” – expressing his reasons for partnering with the exchange.
“Crypto is the new currency and I’m excited to get the Binance message out there as you don’t have to be rich or educated to trade crypto,” said the former roommate. Another housemate, Okonkwo (Cross), said he had used the Binance trading app and was interested in educating the youth about the benefits of crypto trading.
