Bitcoin Reclaims $28,000, Completes Third-Best March in History (Weekend Watch)

Bitcoin bounced in the final hours of March, reclaiming $28,000 and posting a 23% price increase in the third month of the year.

Several altcoins are also well in the green, with ETH rising above $1,800 while SOL has returned above $20.

BTC back above $28,000

The primary cryptocurrency has been on a rollercoaster ride for the past few days. It fell by $1,500 on Monday as the US CFTC sued Binance and Changpeng Zhao, before bulls intercepted the move and pushed the asset sharply north.

Just a few days later, Bitcoin rose to over $29,000. However, this was also short-lived and quickly lost value in the following days. BTC fell to $27,600 on Friday.

However, the end of the last day of March was more positive for the cryptocurrency as it gained back above $1,000 within hours and rose to an intraday high of $28,800 (on Bitstamp).

Although BTC failed to continue the uptrend and lost a few hundred dollars since then, BTC is still in the green on a daily basis, trading above $28,000.

Its market capitalization has once again approached the $550 billion mark, while its dominance over altcoins stands at almost 46.5%.

LTC, TONCOIN on the rise

The alternative coins have also felt their fair share of volatility lately, but most have calmed down heading into the weekend. Ethereum is back above $1,800 after a minor 2% daily increase. Binance Coin remains essentially in the same spot as yesterday, while Cardano, MATIC, Polkadot, Shiba Inu, Tron and Avalanche have mimicked ETH's gains.

Ripple, one of the best performers in the last 10 days or so, is down 6% but is still trading above $0.5.

Litecoin and TONCOIN have risen the most among the top 20 alternatives. LTC is up $6 and is at $93, while TONCOIN has added 8% of value in a day and is at $2.25.

The total crypto market cap has erased Friday's losses and is once again close to $1.2 trillion at CMC.
