According to new data from Linkedin, a professional work-based social network, the number of cryptocurrency-related job postings surged in 2021. The increase was even higher than the overall increase in tech job postings. The nature of these positions is also diversifying, with different industries requiring employees with crypto expertise.

LinkedIn says crypto jobs are on the rise

A analysis of the cryptocurrency jobs sector created by the work-based social network Linkedin found that cryptocurrency jobs are being advertised rose 2021 also compared to other growing regions. The company said job postings containing the words “Ethereum,” Bitcoin,” and “cryptocurrency” increased nearly 400% in 2021 compared to the previous year. The sector even outgrew the technology sector, which only managed to increase 98% of its job openings over the same period.

The analysis concluded that this demand had to do with the influx of funds that flooded the crypto environment last year: $30 billion was pumped into the crypto ecosystem last year, and this led to many companies needing employees to develop crypto-related projects. Crypto's public presence and the new bull market that began last year also had to do with this growth.

Crypto expansion

While most postings had to do with finance and software development, other industries such as accounting and consulting are now also looking for crypto-savvy talent. Personal and computer hardware services were also mentioned.

Crypto companies are also poaching executives and employees from other companies in finance and technology as the field becomes more in-demand. This phenomenon occurs not only in the US, but also in other countries where crypto has gained popularity, such as Korea. Last year saw an exodus of financial officials in the country as government officials and former regulators quit their jobs work for exchanging cryptocurrencies.

The crypto boom has also prompted some companies from outside the industry to do so jump is jumping on the crypto bandwagon, creating jobs at traditional companies like Accenture, KPMG, PayPal Holdings Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co, which now have divisions dedicated to cryptocurrency.
