American social media personality and model Alexis Ren believes that the fiat economy is “collapsing” and recently told the press that she believes cryptocurrencies are a viable alternative. In a recent interview, Ren explained that her interest in crypto is fueled by the celebrity's reservations about the dollar-based economy.

Alexis Ren: “The economic structure we have lived on is a lie and a delusion”

Over the past 12 months, numerous analysts and economists have said that the U.S. economy faces uncertainty. In late October, Robert Kiyosaki, the bestselling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, explained that he believes America is “sliding into depression.” On Friday, Harvard economist Kenneth Rogoff told the media that he thinks “We are on a knife edge” when it comes to inflation in the US. But it's not just famous novelists, analysts and American economists who are predicting that bad times lie ahead for the US economy.

Business Insider (BI) Jim Edwards discussed the topic with socialite and model Alexis Ren after she told people she believes the economy is based on lies. "I think the economic structure that we live by is a lie and it's a delusion and it's just an arrangement. So we have to find something better and I think Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are that," Ren explained in a Youtube video she created with the title “Truth or Drink”.

Speaking to Edwards, the Instagram star with 15 million followers told the BI reporter in a video call that USD devaluation was an issue. “They print more and more of it so it has no value,” Ren pointed out. "It used to be backed by gold and it's not anymore. And so we have no value other than their faith and their belief in it, and that's even scarier. Because now they're just taking advantage of our trust in the dollar. And then there's no fixed amount. And so there has to be something new," she continued.

Model says current economic system is 'unsustainable'

The popular model went on to say that the US economy is “collapsing,” and she emphasized that the current problem of money creation is a never-ending cycle. "I know this, but we have debt, so we try to print more money to pay off the debt, and then we accumulate more and more debt. It's a black hole," Ren said. The social media star thinks the economic system is "unsustainable" and expressed what she thinks American citizens want. “An economy that is sustainable and can move with us,” Ren added.

The interview also explains Ren's appreciation for cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFT). Ren is the founder of a technology platform called Yourstage.io, and the project recently announced its plans to tie NFTs to the company's brand. Yourstage.io uses NFTs for a subscription to the service instead of cash payments. Concluding the interview with BI employee Jim Edwards, Ren told the reporter that people should invest a small amount in cryptocurrencies every month.
