Solana rises 5%, Bitcoin hits 10-week high above $21,000

After a small correction on Sunday, Bitcoin went on the offensive again hours later, hitting a new 10-week high above $21,000.

Solana and Shiba Inu lead the altcoin charge with notable gains, followed by CRO, APT, NEAR and others.

BTC saw new local peak

Bitcoin surpassed $17,000 last weekend and has continued to rise ever since. Last week was the most positive in months as it reclaimed $18,000, $19,000 and finally $20,000 on Friday evening.

Saturday morning saw another massive rise, this time to just over $21,000. The bears tried to intervene on Sunday, pushing the cryptocurrency inches below that level.

However, bulls rose again on Monday morning, pushing BTC north to $21,430 (on Bitstamp). Bitcoin hasn't been this high since the FTX collapse that began to unfold in early November.

Although BTC has pulled back slightly since this local peak, BTC is still in the green on a daily basis. Its market cap used to be over $400 billion and its dominance over altcoins is 41%.

SOL, SHIB Float

Altcoins also recorded impressive gains in the last two weeks. Solana has been at the forefront of the offense, nearly tripling his value during this period.

The last 24 hours brought another notable price increase for SOL. This led to it breaking above $24 to set its own multi-month high.

Shiba Inu is up 5% as the team behind the project announced more details about the upcoming Shibarium.

Ethereum, which turned deflationary again today, is above $1,500 after a minor daily increase.

Crypto.com's native cryptocurrency has exploded by 10% and is trading above $0.08. APT and MANA rose double digits to $8 and $0.7 respectively.

The cumulative market cap has increased by around $10 billion daily, but it is still unable to reach $1 trillion on CoinMarketCap, although it did so on CoinGecko over the weekend.
