Retail giant Walmart says Bitcoin can now be purchased at 200 of its stores in the US. The cryptocurrency will be offered through Coinstar kiosks in Walmart stores. Coinstar currently offers Bitcoin at more than 8,000 kiosks.

Bitcoin can now be purchased at 200 Walmart stores in the US, the company reportedly said on Thursday. This is part of a pilot program with Coinstar, which operates machines that allow customers to exchange U.S. coins for paper bills or gift cards. The pilot began earlier this month, according to Walmart spokeswoman Molly Blakeman.
To purchase Bitcoin at participating Walmart stores, customers must visit a Coinstar kiosk in Walmart. You must have an account with cryptocurrency exchange Coinme and each purchase costs a 4% transaction fee and a 7% cash exchange fee. Buyers receive a voucher that can be redeemed BTC immediately at Coinme. Coinstar noted: “You can only use fiat money to purchase Bitcoins at Coinstar,” emphasizing that coins are not accepted BTC Purchases.
Coinstar and Coinme have collaborated to offer Bitcoin at more than 8,000 kiosks, including the 200 Walmart locations. Coinstar kiosks can also be found at other retail chains and grocery stores, including CVS, Hy-Vee, Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Mas and Harveys.

Walmart was recently a victim of a fake press release claims that the retail giant is preparing to accept Litecoin in its stores.
Meanwhile, Walmart is exploring how cryptocurrencies could fit into its business. In August, the company posted a job opening for a “Digital Currency and Cryptocurrency Product Lead.” Walmart stated: “As an expert in digital currency/cryptocurrency and blockchain-related technologies, you will drive the vision for the product and feature roadmap.”
